Today I am 35 years old, young, however you want to look at it. The glass is always half full so I’m feeling good. When I woke up this morning I didn’t know how I was supposed to be feeling. There have been a couple old man comments but I don’t feel anything like it. In fact, I feel great!
My lovely wife called me through to the lounge this morning and handed me two presents wrapped in blue paper and a birthday card with the perfect message inside. (I honestly thought to myself, wow, the messages in cards are sounding alot less cheesy and more real hearted these days!)
I opened both presents with much delight because she gave me two things that I’ve been wanting for ages. On each wrapper though was a message to me. I must say, she is original. I suppose she, herself, is an original.
Excited after receiving two wonderful gifts we headed out the door and off to work. Its the first time I recall working on my birthday in 35 years. Thankfully its been an easy going day with alot of high spirited laughter from everyone I’ve come into contact with.
At 8:30am on the dot, I received a text message to ask if I wanted another present… followed by a instructions to look inside my laptop case… and low and behold was a wrapped gift in one of the compartments on the inside! I can only describe it as being like a child at Christmas sitting under the Christmas tree. What a surprise! After ripping off the wrapping I had to send through a photo.
Then, at 10am on the dot, I got another text message to ask if I wanted another present… this time I had to go to my car, get into the driver’s seat and look inside the glove compartment. There was another gift wrapped in the same blue paper! As I grabbed hold of it I could smell the savoury taste of biltong! (I know you’re all jealous). Again, I had to take a snapshot and send it through. This biltong is some of the best biltong I’ve ever had!
Well, when you thought it was all over, 12pm came and so did another text message. Again, I was sent to the car to not get inside but simply open the passenger door. In the side of the door was a blue wrapped gift just like the others before. Inside, was a gift that I had to put on and model for a photoshoot in the parking lot of a business shopping centre. All eyes were definitely on me for those 5 minutes. As before, the photo was sent to the sender.
At 2pm sharp came another text message. The thought that went through my mind immediately after seeing the instructions was just how much effort has gone into planning today’s adventure. This trip to the car had me putting my right hand on my head and licking my lips while speaking in a German accent. Well if that didn’t keep the crowd entertained I don’t know what would have! I then had to put my left hand behind me and search for another blue wrapped gift under the driver’s seat of the car. There it was… another much needed gift.
A video first unboxing of a commercially-purchased BlackBerry Bold 9900. I walked into Rogers in Winnipeg on August 9th and picked up four of them… seemingly before they were officially meant to go on sale. This BlackBerry is awesome. Traditional front-facing physical keyboard plus a touchscreen plus wicked fast speeds thanks to the 1.2GHz processor.
